Data Units Converters
Convert bits, bytes, kilobytes, megabytes and bandwidth units.
All data units converters
- Bits to Bytes ConverterType a number of bits and the equivalent in bytes appears straight away. Because one byte holds eight bits, the converter simply divides by 8.
- Bytes to Bits ConverterEnter a number of bytes and the matching number of bits is filled in for you. The converter multiplies by 8, since every byte is made of eight bits.
- Bytes to MB ConverterType a size in bytes and read it in megabytes. The default divisor is 1,048,576; tick the SI box to divide by 1,000,000 instead.
- Data Units ConverterPick a number, a unit to convert from and a unit to convert to. Storage sizes convert to storage sizes and transfer speeds to transfer speeds; tick the SI box to count in thousands instead of 1,024s.
- GB to MB ConverterEnter a number of gigabytes and the megabyte figure follows as you type. Multiply by 1,024 by default, or tick the SI box to multiply by 1,000.
- GB to TB ConverterEnter a size in gigabytes and see it in terabytes. The converter divides by 1,024 unless you tick the SI box, which divides by 1,000.
- Gbps to Mbps ConverterEnter a speed in gigabits per second and the megabit figure appears as you type. One gigabit per second is 1,000 megabits per second.
- KB to MB ConverterType a size in kilobytes and read it in megabytes. The default divisor is 1,024, and ticking the SI box changes it to 1,000.
- Kbps to Mbps ConverterType a speed in Kbps and the matching figure in Mbps appears straight away, rounded to four decimal places. The guide below explains the factor and shows a reference table.
- MB to Bytes ConverterEnter a size in megabytes and the byte count appears as you type. Tick the SI box to count 1 MB as 1,000,000 bytes instead of 1,048,576.
- MB to GB ConverterType a size in megabytes and see it in gigabytes at once, rounded to four decimals. Tick the SI option when you want 1,000 MB to the gigabyte.
- MB to KB ConverterEnter a size in MB and the kilobyte value appears as you type. The default counts 1,024 KB per megabyte; tick the SI box to count 1,000 instead.
- MB to Mbit ConverterEnter megabytes and the equivalent in megabits appears instantly, rounded to four decimals. By default 1 MB counts as 1,048,576 bytes; tick the SI box to use 1,000,000.
- MB to Mbps ConverterEnter a transfer rate in megabytes per second and read it in megabits per second straight away. Use the SI box if you want a clean factor of 8.
- Mbit to MB ConverterType an amount in megabits and the size in megabytes appears as you go, rounded to four decimals. Tick the SI box to divide by exactly 8.
- Mbps to Gbps ConverterEnter a speed in Mbps and the same speed in Gbps appears while you type, rounded to four decimals. The guide explains the factor and lists common link speeds.
- Mbps to Kbps ConverterEnter a speed in Mbps and the matching value in Kbps appears right away. The guide shows the factor, a worked example and a lookup table.
- Mbps to MB/s ConverterEnter an internet or link speed in Mbps and read the download rate in MB/s as you type. Use the SI box if you want to divide by exactly 8.
- TB to GB ConverterType a number of terabytes and the equivalent in gigabytes appears as you type. Tick the SI box to count 1,000 gigabytes per terabyte instead of 1,024.
