Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what happens to information when you use Reeliy (https://reeliy.com): what we collect, why we collect it, who else is involved, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it.

The short version: Reeliy is a collection of free calculators and converters. There are no accounts, and the calculations run in your browser: the site never uploads the numbers you type. The only personal data we deal with comes from standard server logs and from any email you choose to send us. The site does not currently use analytics or advertising services, and it sets no cookies. One thing to know: once you press the button, your numbers are added to the page address, so treat a calculator link as something other people can read (see “Calculator values and the page address”).

Who is responsible for your data

Reeliy is operated by Reeliy (“we”, “us”). We decide how the data described in this policy is used on our site, so we are the party responsible for it under data protection laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and California privacy law.

You can reach us by email only, at hello@reeliy.com. Privacy questions and requests go to the same address. See also our contact page.

What we collect automatically

Only one kind of information is collected automatically when you visit: server logs.

  • Server logs. Like almost every website, the infrastructure that serves our pages records each request: your IP address, user agent (browser and device details), the address requested, the time, and the response status. For a shared calculator link, the address requested includes the numbers in it (see “Calculator values and the page address”). These logs are kept for security, abuse prevention and running the service.

What you send us

If you email hello@reeliy.com, we receive your email address, your name if it appears in the message, and whatever you write. We use it only to reply, to keep a record of the correspondence, and to handle privacy requests. We keep it only as long as it is needed for those purposes.

Please do not include sensitive details (such as health or financial information) in an email unless it is necessary for your question. If you send a link to a calculation, remember that the link contains the numbers entered.

What we do not collect

The site has none of the following features, so there is no data from them:

  • Accounts. There is no registration, login or user profile.
  • Calculator inputs, as such. Calculations run in your own browser, and the site never uploads the numbers you type. (After you press the button the numbers do appear in the page address; “Calculator values and the page address” below explains what that means.)
  • Files. The site has no upload feature.
  • Messages posted on the site. There are no comments, forums or contact forms.

Because there are no accounts and the site sets no cookies, we cannot normally tell who a visitor is beyond what the server logs show.

Calculator values and the page address

When you press Calculate, Convert or Generate, the values you entered are added to the page address, for example ?mass=70&height=170. We do this so that you can bookmark a calculation, reload it or send it to someone. The calculator itself does not send the address anywhere. But an address is not private, and these are the places it can end up:

  • People you send the link to, and anyone who can see your browser history, your bookmarks or your screen.
  • Share destinations. The share buttons under a result (Facebook, X, LinkedIn and email) and the “Copy direct link” button all use the full address, numbers included. Whatever site or app you share on receives it.
  • Our hosting infrastructure. When anyone opens such a link, the request, with the numbers in the address, reaches the server and appears in the server logs described above.

So please do not share, post or bookmark the link of a calculation whose numbers you want to keep to yourself, for example health measurements or income and savings figures. If you want to share only a result, copy the result. The same applies inside an embedded widget (see below).

Embedded widgets

Other websites can show one of our tools in a frame, using the embed code from our Widgets page. The framed page contains only the tool. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, as on the rest of the site.

A framed tool is still a page served by our hosting infrastructure, so loading it is logged like any other request (IP address, browser details, the widget’s address, time and response status). Your browser may also tell the server which page embeds the widget; by default it sends only the name of that website, not the full address. The calculation runs in your browser, and after you press the button the widget’s own address, and its share and direct-link buttons, carry the numbers, as described above. The website that embeds the widget cannot read what you type, because the widget runs on our domain. That website has its own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Why we use data, and our legal bases

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, for example because you are in the EEA or the UK, we need a legal basis for each use of your personal data. Ours are:

  • Server logs. Basis: our legitimate interests in keeping the site secure, preventing abuse and keeping it running.
  • Answering your emails and handling privacy requests. Basis: our legitimate interests in responding to the people who contact us, and, where a request is made under privacy law, our need to comply with that law.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. Reeliy does not set any cookies, and it does not use local storage or similar technologies to recognise you.

  • Session storage. If you open the cookie note from the footer and close it, the site keeps a small marker, consent_dismissed_v1, in your browser’s session storage so the note stays closed in that tab. It disappears when the tab closes, is not an identifier and is not sent to our servers.

Our Cookie Policy gives more detail about each of these and how to control them.

Who we share data with

The parties that receive or handle data connected with the site are:

  • Our hosting infrastructure. It handles requests to the site and keeps the server logs. It processes this data on our behalf.
  • People and sites you share a link with. If you use a share button or send someone a calculator link, the address, with your numbers in it, goes where you send it. That is your choice, not something we do.
  • Authorities. We may disclose information if the law requires us to.

International transfers

Our hosting infrastructure serves pages from servers in many countries, so a request may be handled outside your own country. We rely on the safeguards that provider offers for such transfers.

How long we keep data

  • Server logs. They are kept only as long as needed for security, abuse prevention and operations, following the hosting infrastructure’s own retention routine.
  • Emails. They are kept only as long as needed to respond, to keep a record of the correspondence and to handle any privacy request.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the data we handle. Because the site never uploads what you type and there are no accounts, there is less for us to protect than on a typical website. Still, no system connected to the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, for example because you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • have inaccurate data corrected
  • have your data erased
  • restrict how we use it
  • receive it in a portable format
  • object to uses based on our legitimate interests
  • complain to a supervisory authority

To use any of these rights, see “How to make a request” below.

To complain, contact the data protection authority where you live or work or where you believe a problem occurred. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, but you do not have to contact us before complaining.

Your rights under California law (CCPA/CPRA)

If you live in California, you have the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect, use, disclose and share
  • delete personal information we have collected from you
  • correct inaccurate personal information
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
  • not be treated differently for using these rights

The only personal information we handle is what our hosting infrastructure logs when you request a page (IP address, browser details, the address requested, the time and the response status) and what you choose to email us. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, because the site uses no advertising or analytics services.

Because there is nothing to opt out of, the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer only opens a short note saying so, and a Global Privacy Control signal changes nothing on the site.

To use your other rights, see “How to make a request” below.

How to make a request

Email hello@reeliy.com, say which right you want to use and, if you are in California, say so. We aim to reply within one month for GDPR and UK GDPR requests and within 45 days for California requests.

We may ask for details that help us confirm the request is genuine. Since we have no accounts and set no cookies, the personal data we can link to you is limited to the emails you have sent us and to server log entries.

Children

Reeliy is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13 in the United States, or under 16 in the EU (or the lower age that local law sets). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below those ages. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email hello@reeliy.com and we will delete what we hold. We have no actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Third-party links

Our pages may link to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before sharing any information with them.

The share buttons under a result open Facebook, X, LinkedIn or your email program with the page address filled in, numbers from your calculation included (see “Calculator values and the page address”). What those services do with it is governed by their own policies.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy if what we do with data changes, for example if we add a new tool or partner. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page changes whenever we make a substantive change, so check it if you want to know whether anything is new. See also our Terms of Use.
