Type how many hours ahead you want to look and the calculator gives the clock time you will reach, in 24-hour and 12-hour format. When the answer lands on another day, the date is shown too.

What time is it X hours from now?

Working out a future clock time sounds trivial until the answer crosses midnight or the number of hours is awkward, such as 17.5 or 130. The calculator does the arithmetic on a 24-hour day and tells you whether the result falls later today, tomorrow or further ahead.

The idea is to add the hours to the current time and keep the remainder after dividing by 24. The whole days that were dropped become the day count in the answer.

result time = (current time + hours) mod 24 hThe number of whole days in (current time + hours) ÷ 24 is how far ahead the date has moved.

How to use the calculator

  1. Check the Now is box. Leave it empty to use the current time on your device, or type a time to start from instead.
  2. Enter the number of hours in What time will it be in. The value can be a decimal, such as 2.5 for two and a half hours, and can be anything from 0 to 1,000,000.
  3. Press Calculate time.

Fractions of an hour are rounded to the nearest minute. Starting at 14:30, adding 0.01 hours (36 seconds) gives 14:31.

Reading the result

The answer is given twice: as Resulting time (24h) and as Resulting time (12h). When the result falls on a different calendar date from the starting point, a first line also appears with the full date and time, for example 30 h from 2:30 PM is 2026-10-20 20:30, and the times themselves are followed by tomorrow or N days from now.

The "N days from now" wording counts whole calendar days between the starting date and the date of the result, so it stays correct across month and year ends. For example, 720 hours is exactly 30 days, so from 19 October 2026 you land on 18 November 2026 and the answer reads 30 days from now.

Example: now is 14:30 on 19 October 2026. In 30 hours it will be 20:30 tomorrow, 20 October. In 48 hours it will be 14:30 on 21 October. In 5 hours it is 19:30 the same day, so no date line is added.

Multiples of 24 hours always return to the same clock time, and 12 hours flips AM to PM. For adding hours and minutes together or subtracting them, use the add hours calculator; for general clock arithmetic see the time calculator; and to measure the gap between two clock times, use the hours calculator.

Everyday uses

  • Planning when a slow cook, a dough proof or a marinade will be ready.
  • Estimating an arrival time from a journey length given in hours.
  • Setting a follow-up for a request that has a response window, such as 48 or 72 hours.
  • Working out when a repeating task, for example one every 6 or 8 hours, comes due next.
  • Seeing the time a long shift or a night of rest will end, which pairs well with the sleep calculator.

If a time matters for your health, such as a medication schedule, follow the instructions from your doctor or pharmacist. This tool only does clock arithmetic; see our disclaimer.

Time zones and clock changes

The result is in the same time zone as the time you start from. If you are planning a call with someone elsewhere, add the hours first and then convert the answer with the time zone converter, or convert the starting time before adding.

The calculator counts plain clock hours and does not know about daylight saving time. If your clocks change during the period, the time on the wall will be an hour earlier or later than the figure shown. For long spans, check the date of the next clock change in your region.

Frequently asked questions

What time will it be 24 hours from now?

The same clock time, one day later. Starting from 9:00 AM, 24 hours later is 9:00 AM tomorrow, and 48 hours later is 9:00 AM the day after tomorrow.

How do I add a decimal number of hours?

Convert the fraction to minutes by multiplying by 60. 2.5 hours is 2 hours 30 minutes, so 14:30 plus 2.5 hours is 17:00. The calculator accepts decimals directly.

Why does the result sometimes show a date line?

A date line appears whenever the result falls on a different calendar date from the starting one. It shows the full year-month-day and time, which is the clearest way to read an answer that crosses midnight or a month end.

What is the maximum number of hours I can enter?

The calculator accepts up to 1,000,000 hours, which is about 114 years.
