Business Calculators
Margins, markups, break-even points and other everyday numbers for running a business.
Business numbers are mostly simple ratios, and most mistakes come from picking the wrong one. Margin and markup describe the same profit from different starting points: margin is profit as a share of the selling price, markup is profit as a share of cost, so a 50% markup is only a 33.3% margin. The markup calculator and the profit margin calculator let you enter whichever figures you know and fill in the rest.
Use the break-even calculator before you commit to a price or a new product, the ROI calculator to compare investments of different lengths, and the discount calculator to see what you pay after an offer and how much you save. The commission, conversion rate, productivity and Six Sigma calculators cover sales pay, visitor conversion, output per hour and process quality. Each guide explains the formula, so you can reproduce any answer in a spreadsheet.
