Transportation Calculators
Fuel costs, mileage, travel time and other trip calculations.
These tools answer two kinds of question: how a trip went and how much will fit on a load. Fuel economy comes in three common forms, miles per gallon, litres per 100 kilometres and kilometres per litre. Higher is better for the first and last, lower is better for the middle one, which is why comparing cars across countries is easy to get wrong. The MPG calculator and the fuel consumption calculator work out your real economy from distance and fuel, and the fuel calculator goes the other way, estimating the fuel and cost of a planned trip.
The speed calculator solves for speed, distance or time, and the average speed calculator turns a distance and a duration into speeds in metric and imperial units. For freight, the pallet calculator counts boxes per layer and per pallet, and the container loading calculator shows how many identical items fit in a shipping container.
Popular transportation calculators
- Fuel CalculatorFuel and cost for a planned trip, from distance and consumption.
- Gas Mileage (MPG) CalculatorYour real fuel economy from odometer readings and fuel added.
- Speed, Distance & Time CalculatorSolve for speed, distance or time when you know the other two.
- Pallet CalculatorHow many boxes fit on a pallet and how well the space is used.
All transportation calculators
- Average Speed CalculatorEnter the distance you covered and how long it took (hours, minutes and seconds) to see your average speed in both metric and imperial units.
- Container Loading CalculatorEnter the size of one item (and, optionally, its weight), choose a standard or custom shipping container, and get the maximum number of identical items that fit, the volume used and the best way to line them up.
- Fuel CalculatorEnter the distance you plan to drive, your vehicle's fuel consumption and, if you like, the price of fuel. You get the amount of fuel needed and the total cost of the trip.
- Fuel Consumption CalculatorEnter the distance you travelled and the fuel you burned. The calculator returns your fuel economy in litres per 100 km and kilometres per litre, or in miles per gallon, and your fuel cost per mile or kilometre if you add a price.
- Gas Mileage (MPG) CalculatorEnter your odometer readings and the amount of fuel you put in the tank to see your fuel economy in miles per gallon or liters per 100 km. Add a fuel price and the calculator also shows what each mile costs.
- Pallet CalculatorEnter the size of one box, choose a pallet and a maximum loading height, and the calculator works out how many boxes fit, how many layers that makes and how well the pallet volume is used.
- Speed, Distance & Time CalculatorChoose whether you want the speed, the distance or the time, fill in the other two values and press Calculate. The guide below covers the three formulas, unit handling and worked examples.
