Using the shoe size converter
- Choose the shoe type: women's, men's or children's.
- Under "Convert from", select the sizing system you are starting from (Europe, US, UK, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Japan, Brazil, centimeters, inches or MondoPoint), then pick your size from the list that appears.
- Select the system you want in the "To" drop-down. The equivalent size shows next to it straight away.
Behind the scenes the tool uses published size charts, and a size is converted by its position on the chart: the fifth size in one system corresponds to the fifth size in every other. If a system has no size at that position, the answer reads N/A. Mexican adult sizes start at size 4.5, so the smallest European sizes on the chart have no Mexican equivalent, and children's charts contain similar gaps.
The children's chart is longer than the adult charts, starting at European 19.5 and running to 38. It also restarts the US, UK and Canadian numbering at 1 once children's sizes pass 13½, which is how big-kid sizing works in those countries.
Women's to men's and men's to women's sizes
Men's and women's shoes use the same length-based scales in some systems and shifted scales in others. On the charts used here, the European, Brazilian, centimeter, inch, MondoPoint and Mexican columns are identical for both, because they measure the foot directly. The numbered systems shift:
- US and Canada: the women's size is the men's size plus 1½. A men's 8 is a women's 9½.
- UK: the women's size is the men's size minus ½. A men's UK 8 is a women's UK 7½.
- Australia: the women's scale follows the US women's numbers, so the women's size is the men's size plus 2.
- Japan: the women's size is the men's size minus ½.
To shop across the two ranges with this tool, convert your size to Europe under one shoe type, switch the shoe type, then use that same European size as the starting point and read the US or UK number. Always compare against the maker's own chart before ordering.

Foot size to shoe size
The centimeter, inch and MondoPoint options let you start from a measured foot rather than a label. MondoPoint is the international system standardised in ISO 9407, and it states the foot length the shoe is made for in millimeters: a MondoPoint size of 254 fits a 254 mm (25.4 cm) foot, which the chart pairs with European 40.
How to measure your foot length
- Stand on a sheet of paper placed against a wall, heel touching the wall, with your weight evenly on both feet.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe (this is not always the big toe).
- Measure the distance from the wall to the mark in centimeters. Do the same for both feet and use the longer one.
- Pick the closest foot length in the centimeter column of the converter, then read the size in the system you need.
Measure in the evening, when feet are at their largest, and leave some room for the toes. Sizes are guides, not guarantees: different brands and shoe types fit differently, and width is not captured by a length chart. Where you need a general length conversion, such as centimeters to inches, use the length converter.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a UK shoe size to a US shoe size?
On the men's chart, a US size is the UK size plus 0.5. On the women's chart, it is the UK size plus 2.5. Choose the shoe type first, then pick UK as the starting system and US as the target.
Are men's and women's shoe sizes the same in Europe?
Yes, on the charts used here a European size describes the same shoe length for men and women, so only the US, UK, Canadian, Australian and Japanese numbers shift between the two.
What does N/A mean in the result?
It means the target system has no size at that position on the chart. For example, Mexican adult sizes start at 4.5, so European 35 has no Mexican equivalent.
What is MondoPoint?
MondoPoint is a sizing system, standardised as ISO 9407, that labels a shoe with the foot length in millimeters it is designed to fit, together with the foot width.
